Privacy Policy
Rockville-Tolland SDA Church app · Effective 29 August 2026
This policy describes what the Rockville-Tolland SDA Church mobile app collects,
why, and what happens to it. The app has no accounts and no sign-in: nothing is
collected until you choose to send it.
Information you provide
The app sends information to the church only when you submit one of its forms.
- Contact form. Your name, your email address, your message, and
optionally a phone number and a subject.
- Event submission. The event's title, description, location, dates
and category; optionally your email address so we can reply about the event; and
optionally a photo you choose to attach.
These are free-text fields, so what reaches us is whatever you write in them. That may
include information you consider sensitive — for example, remarks about your
religious beliefs or your relationship with the church. We treat everything you send as
personal correspondence with the congregation.
Information collected automatically
- Crash and performance data. When the app crashes or performs badly,
Google Play collects diagnostic information about the failure and reports it to us in
aggregate through Android vitals. This is collected by Google Play rather than by the
app, and it is governed by your device's own usage & diagnostics setting. There is
no in-app switch for it.
What the app does not collect
- Your location. The app has no location permissions. The map on the
Connect screen shows a single fixed pin at the church's own address; it never asks
where you are.
- Advertising or tracking identifiers. The app contains no advertising,
no analytics service, and no third-party tracking of any kind.
- Your contacts, your accounts, or your photo library. If you attach a
photo to an event submission you pick that one image through the system photo picker;
the app has no access to anything else.
- Any activity outside the app.
How the information is used
- To reply to messages you send us.
- To review, and if approved publish, events you submit.
- To keep the app working and to fix faults.
It is not used for advertising or profiling, and there is no mailing list.
Who it is shared with
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with other companies or
organisations. Form submissions go to the church's own server and are read by
church staff.
The app contacts two hosts in normal use:
- rockvilletollandsda.church — the church's own server, which
provides sermons, bulletins, events, the livestream, and receives your submissions.
- tiles.openfreemap.org — OpenFreeMap, which supplies the map
imagery on the Connect screen. Like any web request this reveals your device's IP
address to that service. The map always requests the same fixed area around the
church, so nothing about where you are is sent.
Security
All communication between the app and every service it contacts is encrypted in transit
over HTTPS. The app is built so that unencrypted connections are refused outright.
Keeping and deleting your information
Messages and event submissions are kept for as long as they are useful to the
congregation. You may ask us to delete anything you have sent, at any time, and you may
ask what we hold. Write to
it@rockvilletollandsda.church
and we will confirm when it is done.
Children
The app is intended for a general audience — the congregation and anyone interested
in the church — and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly
solicit personal information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update it here and revise the effective date
above.
